Who can write a Review and When?

Constructive reviews represent true experiences from real users. Consequently, we have implemented guidelines that determine eligibility for leaving a review on our review platforms.

When can you write a review?

Our Guidelines for Reviewers state that you can review a business if you’ve had a recent, genuine experience with it. It could be:

You bought a service
For example, You traveled from one town to another using a public transport company, you can write a review about that company.
You visited an office
For example, you visited a government or private office, and you were disrespected, you can write a review of your experiences
You bought a product
And discovered that the business who sold the product lied about the product. You can write a review.
Customer Service
You visited a hotel, or a bank or an NGO, their customer service was not good. Write a review.
A church or Association
If you have had an experience with a church or an association, share it.

 What other requirements are there?

As well as making sure you fit one of the above situations, make sure your review is:

  • Only about your own experience – not someone else’s

  • About an experience you’ve had within the past 12 months

When can't you write a review?

To ensure that all reviews on CR platforms are based on genuine experiences, there are some situations where you can’t write a review on our platform:

1. You’ve been offered an incentive

  • You cannot write a review if you’ve been offered an incentive, such as discounts, monetary rewards, or loyalty points, in exchange for writing a review. Businesses are not allowed to provide incentives for reviews.

2. You have a special relationship to the business

  • It is not permissible to submit a review regarding a business or its products if you or a member of your immediate family is an owner or employee of that business.
  • It is prohibited to submit a review if the business being reviewed is a direct competitor of your own enterprise or the organization you work for.
  • It is not permissible to submit a review regarding your experiences related to employment with the company, including aspects such as job interviews, the organization’s internal politics, or their employment practices.

Note: If you have previously worked for the company, you are invited to submit a review reflecting a legitimate buying or service experience you encountered while you were not employed there.

3. The topic is trending in the news or social media

It is not permissible to submit a review concerning a subject that is presently trending in the news or on social media platforms. CR platforms are not intended for the discussion of political, religious, or social opinions; therefore, please ensure that your review focuses solely on your personal experiences related to purchasing or receiving services from the business.

Note: We have gathered various tips designed to support you in writing high-quality reviews.

Top tip: Save some documentation that shows you’ve had an experience (like a receipt or a screenshot of your online chat with customer service), just in case there’s a question about your review after you’ve posted it.
